It was nice of Ray to share his experiences and become able to support himself with his small business. But he's gone now, and Commentary Press has probably served its purpose. I certainly wouldn't fault his wife for wanting to spend the remaining years of her life Witness-free (both current and some ex). It consumed both of their lives, nearly destroyed them while forcing them to live off of others' charity for a spell, and evidently was the main factor for remaining childless. She's probably alienated from most of her family as well. So she has my best wishes for a life without concerns, worries, or uninvited guests or inquiries constantly hounding her for commentary on her deceased husband or the religion she once belonged to.

What was the worst thing an "elder" ever did to you ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen inthe worst thing an "elder" ever did to me was in 2008. i was in one congregation, but i wanted to return to my home congregation because i've been reproved there twice ( once private and the last one public ).
when i came into this congregation in 2007 i thought i was going to move up the food chain ( this congregation was full of older people, so i thought i would move up faster ).
but i got into some trouble in the congregation.

Putting things in perspective? They're right, you'd be horrible at a funeral. You'd probably be telling the grieving family about all the other people who die daily, all under the guise of 'putting things in perspective'. Fine, maybe you might not 'hate' the country, but you obviously despise it based on your generalisation and blanket condemnation of it. What I am suggesting is that you obviously have a grudge against Americans, and it has little to do with Sandy.

Are people really this concerned about how the American media is reporting their own tragedy vis-à-vi s the earlier damage to the Caribbean? If this is taking up your time, I suggest you find something more pressing to think about on a more local level. You don't have to cry for the victims. If you hate America, then hate it. Don't use a national disaster to find a convoluted way to complain about a country you apparently dislike.

It could be that Owen thought Obi-Wan 'abandoned' Luke on him unexpectedly, and when Obi-Wan returned to give Luke Anakin's lightsaber and to begin training (as described by Obi-Wan in A New Hope), that is when Owen finally had it with him and got cross, deciding that Obi-Wan wasn't welcome there anymore. That might have been what Lucas was thinking in the live-action series he was planning between Episodes III and IV. Ewan McGregor was planning on doing a few eposides, and I'm sure he could have gotten Owen and Beru back for a few more. Just a thought.

I enjoyed the 'Plinkett' reviews too. Thanks Leolaia. I probably never would have known.
The only definitive proof we have that time travel will never be invented is that history did NOT record someone appearing circa 1981 out of thin air dressed in full Jedi regalia and shooting George Lucas in the face.

I wish the Ewoks were the only thing that was wrong with Return of the Jedi. The Jabba the Hutt sequence had a bit too much humour and slapstick to it, especially since Jabba was from the very beginning portrayed as a vicious gangster. Though the character itself and his appearance was so striking it has made its way into pop culture, the whole scene was too comical for its own good. It failed to portray the seriousness of the situation that Luke, Han, and Leia were in. Not only was I certain that everyone was going to get out alive, it would have a melodramatic climax to it all.
Gary Kurtz rightfully criticised the inclusion of a second Death Star. (For more info, check this link: http://www.ign.com/articles/2002/11/11/an-interview-with-gary-kurtz ) Kurtz was Lucas' original co-writer and had more of an influence on Empire than Lucas did. Lucas in fact had a nervous breakdown during Empire and threatened to scrap the whole thing because he thought it was boring. Kurtz was raised a Mormon, but left and dabbled in other religions, particularly eastern ones. He came up with the entire mythology of the Force, while Lucas envisioned Luke as more of a cowboy/renegade type character. He finally split with Lucas after Empire over disagreements with the Return of the Jedi script. Han Solo was originally to be killed in the middle of the movie in a raid on an Imperial base, and the movie was to end on an ambiguous note with Luke heading off into the unknown, and Leia struggling with Han's death and her newfound leadership responsibilities. Kurtz reveals in the interview that Lucas decided to change the script to a more happier ending with Han still alive due to merchandising reasons. More toys to be sold. Leia was not to be Luke's sister, and the Emperor was only to make his appearance in a later sequel, as well as Luke's real sister.
The penultumate scene with Vader, Luke and the Emperor was the only thing that salvaged Return of the Jedi for me. It is there that you realise the helplessness of Luke's situation as he is revealed to be no match for the Emperor. Vader redeems himself, saves Luke, and brings it to the proper conclusion. I have a nagging suspicion that Lucas had help on that sequence (or perhaps was a remnant of what Kurtz originally wrote), because it's a little too deep for Lucas' style. If George had his way, one of the Ewoks might have taken out the Emperor by mistake. It's easy to see how much control Lucas had by the end of Return of the Jedi that hardly anyone has the gumption to challenge him on anything. From here he went into the Special Editions, and then the prequels. One can only hope that Disney brings in a talented team of writers and conceptualists. Lucas strikes me as the type of man who can come up with a nice abstract idea and bizarre concept, but is lacking in screenwriting and directing skills.

Uh-oh. Lucas says he has 'story treatments' for Episodes VII, VIII, IX.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=YyqlTi7lkhY
I think they ought to just throw all these pre-conceived ideas out and bring in a fresh team. If this Kathleen Kennedy lady is just a front for Lucas, then we could be in trouble. All in all, even with Lucas involved, I'll take it. Whatever product they bring to the big screen ought to be a world of difference from those awful Clone Wars cartoons that just never seem to die. When they muddle the storyline behind Anakin's and Obi-Wan's friendship, I find myself uninterested in watching them fighting the same war you already know the outcome of in animation.

I've seen it over several news sources. Episode VII in 2015, with more sequels to follow. It's happening. George Lucas finally did what was good for him and the fans and cashed out.
And yes, nothing could ever be worse than the Phantom Menace. If they get Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill back in Episode VII for cameos and maybe more, it's already golden.
